Skirt no Naka wa Kedamono Deshita. – Episode 6 (RAW)

Ryou has been promoted, half-jokingly and half-not, to “boyfriend candidate.” He wastes no time. He asks Shizuka on a date and takes her to an amusement park. The lights and rides should feel like a normal couple’s day. Shizuka cannot let it be normal. She still does not believe she deserves that kind of attention, and she cannot accept Ryou’s kindness without looking for the trick.

Her face stays cloudy even while he is trying to give her a memory. Ryou notices. He does not lecture her in the crowd. He puts them in a Ferris-wheel car, above the park, where she has nowhere to look except at him. That is the point. He did not bring her here only to play games. He wants her to look at him — not the skirt, not the shock, not the rumor of what he is, but him.

The date episode is tender on the surface and restless underneath. Shizuka is being offered romance she is afraid to take. Ryou is asking to be seen as a person she might choose, not only as the man who once pinned her when she was drunk.
