Shouji’s dream takes a monumental leap forward when his picture book is selected for the final round of a publisher’s competition. To celebrate this achievement and share the news, he invites Minami-nee-san to dinner, bringing Kana along for a joyous outing for three. The celebration, however, takes a bittersweet turn. After walking a sleeping Kana home, Shouji is left alone with Minami. In a moment of heartbreaking confusion, he asks to retract his previous confession of love, wishing to reset their relationship to a blank slate. Visibly hurt and with tears welling in her eyes, Minami-nee-san is overcome with emotion. Facing what she believes is their final moment, she is driven by a surge of passion and longing. With the words, “Since it’s the last time…”, she closes the distance and seals their complicated feelings with a deep, emotional kiss. This climactic moment leaves their future painfully uncertain, blurring the lines between a painful end and a desperate, passionate beginning.
