Mashou no Nie 3 – Episode 1 (EN)

After three centuries of restless wandering, the spirit of the betrayed pirate king Van Clad possesses the body of naval officer Klaus Ainhart. Armed with Klaus’s memories and position, he infiltrates the Kingdom of Austria—the very nation founded by the bloodline of the navigator who once murdered him. Maintaining the perfect façade of a diligent officer, Van Clad bides his time while quietly gathering power. When the navy is tasked with suppressing the three pirate fleets that plague the kingdom’s waters, he seizes the opportunity. Leading the campaign, he confronts and defeats Olivia, the most powerful of the three pirate captains. The victory elevates his standing within the military and removes a major obstacle, yet it is merely the opening act of a far more personal revenge. With the external threat diminished, Van Clad turns his attention inward. The true objects of his centuries-old hatred are the royal sisters Iris and Mireille von Austria. Through careful manipulation and sudden force, he begins the process of capturing and breaking them, ensuring that the noble lineage that rose from his betrayer’s success will be thoroughly degraded. Directed by Teruaki Murakami, this first part of the OVA establishes the possession, the dual identity, the naval victory over Olivia, and the initial targeting of the royal family.
